Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I am running Feisty with xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.6.3 installed with a AGP Radeon 7000 series.
If I supply the ati/radeon driver in my xorg.conf I get a black/blank screen before the GDM. If I do happen to make it into the desktop I lock-up with video corruption at the top of my screen if I switch to a console tty and then back to the desktop tty.
The vesa driver works perfectly fine.
If i comment out dri in xorg.conf I can get past the GDM but it still results in a lock-up once I'm in the desktop.
I have not been able to find any errors in any logs. I will attach the xorg.conf and Xorg.log.0.old, along with a backtrace.

okay some strange things happened when i was attempting to do a backtrace, sometimes to keyboard would still function and sometimes it wouldn't. so here's the Xorg.0.log's and the backtraces.

Have you found out something to solve this Patrick?

Miroslav, this bug was fixed in Ubuntu 8.04 (if the duplicate status is correct) so if you still have an issue it must be something else. Please file a new bug.
