Hey everybody
I have an acer laptop model acer 3810t
The problem I'm experiencing has been present since ubuntu 11.04 up to 12.04 beta2
the thing is that sometimes - out of nowhere (completely random. seems not related to anything) the trackpad stops responding and requires a reboot
sometimes it stops responding a minute after I login
and sometimes days can pass without me experiencing the problem.
I have no idea what causes it. I haven't seen other similar bug reports.
I believe that it is an ubuntu issue since I'm also an arch linux user. the problem didn't appear on arch.
thanks!
I'll happily send further info. |

WORKAROUND:
1) switch to the console session (e.g., press <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<F1> and input your login & password as prompted);
2) reload the PS/2 kernel module:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse
3) try to exit the console session and switch to the graphic terminal (e.g., press <Alt>+<F7> or <Alt>+<F8> if VT7 is black).
