synclient TouchpadOff=1 toggles touchpad rather than disabling it

Using Lucid on a Thinkpad T410s, running synclient TouchpadOff=1 toggles the state of the touchpad. It should always disable it.

After further investigation, it looks like this was just an interaction of the disable touchpad when typing option. If that is disabled, then this works as expected.

Why doesn't that fact qualifies it as a bug then? Only your comment allowed me to figure out how to fix it on my machine, after a long time of googling...

As per man synaptics:
Option "TouchpadOff" "integer"
              Switch off the touchpad. Valid values are:

              0 Touchpad is enabled
              1 Touchpad is switched off
              2 Only tapping and scrolling is switched off
              Property: "Synaptics Off"
