Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

My disable button for my Synaptics touchpad has never worked correctly in Ubuntu. From the start the disable button has never functioned.

I managed to find a (sort of) fix to get the button to disable, and that was to change the keybindings, the default value in gconf-editor did not correspond to the actual shortcut key. The default value was XF86TouchpadToggle, however when I created a keyboard shortcut the disable button registers as Help, so I changed the value of the touchpad key binding in gconf-editor and my touchpad works, but the problem is, I have to press the disable button twice to get it to disable and twice to re-neable it again. So I feel that there is more a persistent problem with my machine.

My computer is a Compaq Presario CQ60-307EA, with the Synaptics Touchpad.

which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information.
