Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Intrepid on a Dell Inspiron 910
package 0.15.2-0ubuntu3

The touchpad has middle-mouse click emulation enabled by default with a tap in the upper-right corner. There is no option to disable this behavior in the mouse settings. Also, there is no entry for the touchpad in xorg.conf.

Attached is an output of xinput list

Probably not relevant, but I did a fresh CLI install of Intrepid, then sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop --without-recommends

It is quite intentional that it isn't in xorg.conf - almost everything is autodetected fine now.

As for the option to turn this off... you can turn if off manually using xinput (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config, Input Configuration section) - the first two elements of "Synaptics Tap Action" are what you need to set to 0.

I should have replied earlier that william's solution worked.

It would be great if ubuntu could stop turning this feature on by default, especially since there is no way to disable it without messing with xinput or synclient. Accidentally touching the upper right corner pastes text and closes tabs. This is really annoying!
