Similar issue on Ideapad 320 80YH, mine is working, but with strange behavior: the right click is triggering the left click function, and sometimes both clicks (left and right).

I have the same, identical bug with the IdeaPad 320-15ABR (same of Ben i think, according with him hardware specs).
Ubuntu 17.10 and Linux 4.13.0-16-generic

I think the package provided isn't the right one. As I just wrote the bug is identical, but i the package xserver-xorg-input-synaptic isn't installed on my system. So the issue should be find somewhere else.

I just tried installing the kernel 4.14 RC6, but the bug is still here.

Some ideas?

I have similar issue on Ubuntu 17.10(Ubuntu on Xorg), 4.10.0-37-generic running on:

Manufacturer: Acer
Product Name: Spin SP513-51

The touch-pad freezes, though not immediately after reboot, but every 2-3 hours or so. There are no records in dmesg at the time of freeze. Logging out and back does not help, only rebooting works. The issue persists in Ubuntu(Wayland) as well. Changing kernel did not help.

Please let me know if you need any logs.

I have a similar problem in Lenovo Ideapad 320 80YF0005BR. The touchpad doesn't hold left click to select text and right click isn't working either, but the pointer moves normally.
I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (MATE) Linux 4.4.0-59 i686 X.Org 1.18.4.
