Bug Description
This is an intermittent issue that I have been experiencing with Ubuntu 15.10 (Unity) and an HP Envy x360 hybrid notebook.
Touchpad inputs suddenly begin to cause erratic outcomes. Making any input with the touchpad often causes the cursor to appear near the top right of the screen or in another unpredictable location. There are phantom left and right clicks recorded without the user inputting them. While trying to move the cursor to any particular place or to make some other action, the cursor "dances" around the area or appears at an extreme of the screen.
Touchscreen inputs and external mouse inputs continue to function normally. As long as the user is not interacting with the touchpad at all, then everything appears normal.
Only a full reboot appears sufficient to correct the error. I have not been able to test hibernate/resume as a workaround, as hibernate is not currently working on this machine. Logout/login and suspend-resume to not appear to correct the problem.
This bug does not appear reliably after any particular action or period of time. I have occasionally noticed it after a resume from suspend, but it has also been present on boot or just in the middle of normal operation. The logs posted with this bug were collected after an appearance in the middle of normal use.
