Bug Description

On my L520 with 3.2.0-49-generic touchpad stop working every some time, then reconnects, my syslog says:

kernel: [10368.674826] psmouse serio4: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 1

This issue is *not* present on version 3.2.0-45 of the kernel.

Any idea how to solve it?

Details about machine are:

Versión 12.04 (precise) de 64-bit
3.2.0.49 kernel

Does anyone know a workaround for this issue? I have this several times an hour, sometimes every few minutes - very annoying.

With kubuntu 13.10 Beta 2 and kernel 3.11.0-11-generic, the messages can still be found in syslog, but I didn't experience the hanging mouse pointer any more.

klamm2001, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
