3) Assigned 2 fingers commands should work correctly, like pinch zoom, scroll etc...

4) When I tap the screen with 2 fingers, and do a pinch zoom, or scrolling, after a while, the cursor freezes, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive, I have to restart the system manually. It happens all the time. I installed original xorg evdev, what is working correctly, but multitouch is missing.

Try to open a pdf document witk Okular, ofcourse, us ginn too!
The single finger scrolling is hell slow!

The latest wokring driver version is: 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu6 without freezing and fast pdf scrolling with okular (2fingers mode is recognized, but does not act)

Correction:

1:2.6.0-1ubuntu6 is working with multitouch-recognition and it acts as defined in wishes.xml(ginn).
The cursor freezing is not reproducible.

Same problem with ExoPc, same configuration. Touchscreen is eGalax (0eef:72a1). Freezes when trying two fingers gestures, really often. Have to reboot. Works great in evince. Not reproducible when Ginn is activated in command line.

My ExoPC (running Ubuntu 11.04 with xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu12 and an eGalax 0eef:72a1 touchscreen) is also affected by this problem, and I can consistently reproduce it.

It seems that ginn reliably recognizes two-finger gestures if both fingers make contact with the screen at about the same time. However if I put one finger down a split second or more before the other, the gesture is not recognized by ginn and the touchscreen immediately becomes unresponsive to single-finger input - but the machine doesn't actually crash; my USB mouse and keyboard continue to work.

Once the touchscreen has entered this broken state, a single-finger touch produces no response (unable to click or move the cursor), yet two-finger gestures continue to be recognized and acted on by ginn. If ginn was running in the terminal before the problem was triggered, I can see that it continues to report coordinates for both touch points.

Typically Xorg will crash and return to the login screen shortly (anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes) after the touchscreen stops working properly. After logging back in, the touchscreen responds normally to single-touch input again (but if ginn was running in the background in the previous session, it remains running, now using 60-100% of the CPU).

I've found a silly workaround. I do a two finger tap just after boot, before any other interaction with the touchscreen.

taril, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.
