Bug Description

Hello,

after updating to the latest xorg-drivers today (01.05.2006) i got a Problem with the video-output.

i use xine and also totem but i got the following problem.

After i start ubuntu i can watch the first video in correct colors.
but only the first movie, all others after the first are shown in very basic colors, i don't know how it's called.

if a take a screenshot with xine, the picture is in normal colors, but the output while watching the video is not.

EDIT:

If i logout to gdm and log into ubuntu again, then i can watch a new movie with correct colors. but then with the next video i got the color-problem again.

same thing here. It seems like the number of color is significantly reduced. The videos look like they only have 16 colors or something. The bug occur with all the video players I tried, i.e. totem, xine and mplayer.

One important remark though, with mplayer if I switch the video output to x11 it works fine (mplayer -vo x11). With sdl or xv, the colors are messed up.

It's a pretty major bug and should be fixed ASAP in my opinion

this bug is confirmed as a duplicate of bug 32963, but i doubt this is the same bug.

cause i used the Dapper Drake beta one, fresh install, and the bug, i described did not exist.

it came with one of the daily updates of xorg. Also the xv output worked before.

Second is that i can watch as many movies as i like, with correct colors, but i mustn't close the video-player.

like i said i can watch the first movie in correct colors, if i load another video with the same instance of xine, it plays this video also well.

but the problems begin when i have closed the player like xine or mplayer.

a new start of one of the video players gives bad colors.

I can confirm that they are not the same problems.
Recently I also begin to notice this bug, which is again Xv-specific.

In bug 32963, everything is seen with too much white.
In this bug, colors are very different from the color that should appear.

There is only one (1) Xvideo 'port' on the graphics card. If multiple videos are playing then only the first will use the hardware-scaler (where the gamma issue is) and the rest will use the software-scaler which doesn't suffer from the current bug.

I'm going to mark this as a duplicate again because I have a fix to upload. If that fix doesn't solve it, please un-dup this again.

Unduplicating from bug 32963, which is still not fixed -- the reporter here says that his bug is fixed.

loko: can you include the output of:

  dpkg -l | awk '/i810/{print$2,$3}'

and:

  xvinfo | head -4
