Bug Description

After the upgrade to 6.8.2-77 yesterday, the X server crashes at startup with a
"Caught signal 4" error and subsequently dies (sometimes the screen flashes
garbled graphics for a second, but then drops back to the text prompt). There
were no additional (EE) entries in the log to suggest that anything was wrong.
6.8.2-75 works fine (and I have downgraded it to this version on my breezy system).

This problem is appearing in both GDM or if I just start X with the "X" command
on the CLI.

The hardware is a Mobility Radeon X600 in a HP/Compaq nx8220 notebook. I will
attach the xserver log to this bug report.

Exactly the same problem here, also a HP Compaq nx8220 notebook.

I have the same error happening on a HP nc6230 laptop with a X300 Mobility chip
from ATI. I have worked around it by using fglrx, but the ati driver worked
much better in Hoary and had a higher resolution.

Have exactly the same problem with 6.8.2-77 on HP Compaq nx8220 (ATI X600)

Hardware ATI X600. Resolution 1680x1050. The 6.8.2-75 from the from Breezy live
works (well, 6.8.2-75 is also not completely ok when switching to text-console
and back).
