Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xgl

With the regular xserver that ships with Gutsy RC, I can set the properties for my touchpad (such as disable tap to click) from within Mouse Preferences (gnome-mouse-properties).

However after installing xserver-xgl the Touchpad tab in gnome-mouse-properties disappears.

Just chiming in to confirm this report. I installed from the RC disc and am currently fully upgraded on an HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop. The touchpad tab disappears when using xserver-xgl.

I have the same problem, and it annoys me since under XGL I can't turn off tap-to-click. I have it turned off in the regular xserver, but it is on in XGL. Running the final AMD64 Gutsy release.

The same thing happened to me on a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop. I disabled "tap to click" by typing and saving this in the touch pad section of "/etc/X11/xorg.conf", while logged in as "root":

Option "MaxTapTime" "0"

I have attached an image showing a section of the edited "xorg.conf" file.

Chiming in with a "me too" and also changing status to Confirmed.

The current workaround is to install the Touchpad preferences tool from Add/Remove. Incidentally, there is a problem with this package in that it is missing an icon, but that's a different bug.

xserver-xgl has been deprecated upstream, and removed from Intrepid. Closing the bug as won't fix.
