Bug Description

In Lubuntu 12.04, when I choose to switch user, I arrive on the LightDM screen. If I reconnect on my account, the screen is locked and I have to type my password. This is useless because to reconnect on my account, I've already type my password In LightDM.

I don't think xscreensaver can do anything about this. If it is told to lock the screen, it will ask for password to unlock it. This must probably be fixed in the application that manages the user switching.

affects: xscreensaver (Ubuntu) → lightdm (Ubuntu)

seems like a wishlist for xscreensaver support, the unlocking works fine with gnome-screensaver

Have put Lubuntu 12.04 on an aged laptop and a low spec desktop for the kids to watch stuff on bbc iplayer with.
This issue is evident on both machines.
Fantastic OS, really quick and responsive but is a bit laborious to switch between users as you have to put your password in twice, as described in posts above. (putting a password in once is challenging enough for a 6 year old but to have to do it a second time over with the clock ticking is proving a little traumatic!).
I've tried to resole this but everything I read keeps coming back to either editing ~/.xscreensaver manually or running xscreensaver-demo (which is successfully updates ~/.xscreensaver ok).
it doesn't seem to matter what settings are in ~/.xscreensaver it still insists on the passord being entered twice when you switch users.
thanks for reading
