Bug Description

Binary package hint: xscreensaver

I use Xubuntu with British and Greek keyboard drivers, switched using the Keyboard Layout Switcher applet on the panel. If I'm in Greek mode and xscreensaver fires up, the keyboard driver is emitting Greek characters. These don't show up as blobs in the 'password' field, so it appears as if the keyboard has no effect. It also ignores mouse clicks on the username field to type in there - and the cursor keys are ignored too. Any attempt to press Return is greeted with 'invalid password'.

It doesn't allow me to switch driver because it obscures the panel, so there's no way out of this situation. A workaround is to click 'New Login', start a new X session on another virtual console, kill xscreensaver in a terminal, then Ctrl-Alt-F7 switch back to the now-unlocked session.
