Bug Description

when i want to start another user session from within the first one, i cannot do that.

there is no option in the menu and from the lock-screen using the login button, it doesn't work because gdmflexiserver is not found . there is no package containing this command/binary

*sigh*

to make some fun out of this - wasn't linux been advertised as OS with multi-user/multi-session capability ? (which windows didn't have at that time?) seems that it's not important to many people.....otherwise i can't explain, why this won't work by default.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2020245/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

It is a problem with Lubuntu and how the screensaver daemon is started. I don't see here in the report which version is affected, but since a long time the package comes with a desktop file /usr/share/xscreensaver/xscreensaver.desktop referencing its own wrapper script /usr/share/xscreensaver/xscreensaver-wrapper.sh to start up. This wrapper script tries to identify what kind of session it is started in, and to set the "user-switcher" accordingly. It should set it to "dm-tool switch-to-greeter" if lightdm was used to launch the session.

It is quite difficult for the xscreensaver daemon (or the wrapper) to know what is the correct user-switcher command to call. It makes a lot more sense that the desktop session tells xscreensaver which one to use when it launches the daemon...
