Preview button broken

Running Ubuntu 22.10 and xscreensaver 6.02 from the repos.

The "preview" button in the xscreensaver-settings GUI doesn't work anymore. Running with -verbose just shows this message but I'm not sure if it's related.

No clues are provided as to what desktop you're using, but I wonder if this bug relates or is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/1989163 which exists in both 22.10/kinetic & 23.04/lunar & is a work-in-progress by Lubuntu development team; MMarking - it maybe worth a look & given your view.

Thanks for the response. I'm running Xubuntu with the defaults. I did see that other bug report and noticed that the comment in number 4 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/1989163/comments/4) mentions the preview button problem. However, I don't have the problems they are talking about in running from the menu, but I'm not using Lubuntu.

This is a known issue, I have a fix for it but have gotten pretty caught up trying to fix other things. In essence, XScreenSaver changed a bunch of stuff with its config file and made a big mess, requiring that the config file be rewritten just about from scratch. For Lubuntu, I have a working config file and intend on getting it uploaded soon-ish. Didn't know Xubuntu had a problem, but I'm almost certain it will have the same root cause and thus a very similar fix.
