Bug Description

Binary package hint: xscreensaver

It crashed, and apport wanted to report it, so here we are.

I also see Bug #184823 which has the same screensaver crashing with a SIGSEGV in malloc() ... I'm wondering if these are related. As with that defect, my system is also running an nVidia on x86_64.

Tormod, I cannot reproduce it with Jaunty. Will check Intrepid soon.

I have 8.10 now, could you tell me what test to perform in order to
check the bug?
Thanks
Manuel

Since intrepid is now stable, this kind of crash might be "hidden" and
the crash report program (apport) might not show up.
You have to set your screensaver as ripples, wait for 10-15 seconds
and check out the output of this command: dmesg | tail

I think this is fixed in 8.10 though

I have tested this against fully updated installations of Ubuntu 8.04.1 (plus NVIDIA 177.82 installed by hand), 8.10 and 9.04. I can no longer reproduce this problem with any of the above, and concur with the FIX RELEASED status.
