XScreensaver 5.15 Ubuntu 14.04 breaks RSS URL, 5.26 available?

I installed XScreensaver using Synaptic Package Manager, which shows the installed version and latest version at 4.15-3ubuntu1.

In Screensaver Preferences ... Advanced ... Image Manipulation ... Choose Random Image ... I have pasted a URL from my public web site as ...

>> http://daviding.com/webphotos/index.php?rss=gallery&lang=

... and then change tabs over to "Display Mode" and then back to "Advanced".

The URL now reads http:/daviding.cm/weebphotos/index.php?rss=gallery&lagg= ... so the RSS images don't seem to be downloaded.

The problem was noted on Bug #1116006 for Ubuntu 12.10, but appears to still be a problem with Ubuntu 14.04. There, on 2014-05-14 it says ...

... but that doesn't be included as the current release.

Here are the release and version numbers.
