page counter does not work in multi page projects

Binary package hint: xsane
page counter reports zero "0" despite the number of scanned pages in multipage projects. See attached screenshot where three out of four pages are scanned.

Confirmed that this bug is present on Lucid 10.04. Project can still be saved as pdf and works in the end but the information popups errors after every page are there.
