Bug Description

ubuntu (all three latest versions) will not open Xsane using epson perfection 1670 it returns the message"Failed to open device "SNAPSCAN:LIB USB:001:004: However if I switch the computer to Windows and use the scanner, then after returning to ubuntu Xsane does work. This also applies if I swap the scanner to another computer using windows and use the scanner, then plug it back into the main computer. The scanner then works until the machine is switched off. It suggests the scanner is at fault but then it works perfectly with Windows so how can it be the scanner?. Totally baffled please help

This is not a bug

this file

/etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf

needs to be modified to point towards the firmware file (you need the firmware file as well

#------------------------------ General -----------------------------------
firmware /usr/lib/sane/firmware/ESFW30.BIN
#---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# No changes should be necessary below this line
