Bug Description

Binary package hint: xsane

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. Scanner Epson Perfection 3490 Photo. Scanner worked perfectly in GIMP and xsane until downloaded 2 recommended updates, then not in GIMP only with xsane. Downloaded Wine and scanner no longer accessed by xsane either. Error message enclosed as screenshot. Removing wine did not rectify the fault.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. When does this error occur? What were the two updates you installed? What happens if you remove the ~/.sane directory? Thanks in advance.

Can you also attach the /etc/sane.d/epson.conf to the case?
