Bug Description

I am using a Linux Certified laptop, model # LC2440N [1]. The resolution supported by the display hardware is 1680x1050. On 6.10, my resolution was correctly detected. On 7.04, my resolution is set to 1024x768.

I tried following the instructions listed in the DebuggingXAutoconfiguration page [2], but I was unable to get my text console working.

Please attach /var/log/casper.log from the livecd-session. Also, attach the output of 'sudo ddcprobe' and 'sudo xresprobe nv'.

Does adding "1680x1050" manually to the xorg.conf help? If it does, please try a fresh daily livecd if it works better. It seems that xresprobe does find the correct resolution, but not when the X was set up by casper. This should now be fixed.

Adding "1680x1050" manually to the xorg.conf does help on my 7.04 Beta install. However, I just downloaded the Feisty i386 Desktop livecd for today [1] and the screen resolution is still coming back as 1024x768 when I boot using that livecd.

In that case please attach casper.log from the new livecd... puzzling.

Hrm, xresprobe still doesn't work with casper. Wonder what's going on here..

I'm marking this confirmed.. If it magically works in gutsy again, please report back. Otherwise I have no ideas, and xresprobe should be deprecated in a future release anyway.

Is this a dupe of 94994? ddcprobe is failing to return edid data.
