Text base installer does not show last steps of install

Bug Description

I have installed 6.06.1 from the text based installer several times. Each time, the status displays go blank, with just two inverse spaces showing on the screen toward the end of the install. It happens after the packages are downloaded and being installed. I found that if I wait a long time, until the disk activity stops and the cd rom spins down, I can enter two carriage-returns, and the install will complete.

I'm pretty sure this is the well-known X probing bug, although I don't have the bug number to hand. Reassigning.

Thanks for reporting this bug, however you've not provided enough information to debug this issue. Please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files, and the output from lspci -vvnn and xresprobe <driver>. Also, if possible please test this against gutsy-beta or newer, in case recent changes have fixed the issue.

This may be a dupe of 127008, so the fix for that bug may be appropriate for this one too, however we need to know more about the hardware to be certain.
