Please update to latest xorgxrdp-0.2.6

The version of xrdp in Universe xrdp-0.9.5-2 contains xorgxrdp-0.2.5.

This version of xorgxrdp does not implement gamma ramps in a sensible manner, and doesn't work well with the GNOME 3 desktop. This was reported on the xorgxrdp github site as issue #111, fixed in 0.2.6 :-

Users are reporting problems with 18.04 and xrdp on the xrdp site which I believe are related to this:-

You may also wish to consider an upgrade to xrdp-0.9.6 as this has some useful bugfixes in too.

Fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04. xorgxrdp + xrdp install. 2 issues:
1. xrdp user is not part of ssl-cert group by default, and is not able to read /etc/xrdp/key.pem (but able to read /etc/xrdp/cert.pem)
2. connection establishes but gnome requires one to enter user credentials in "Authentication is required to create a color managed device" dialog when launching GNOME 3 and once you do this around 8 times it would disconnect a session

Apologies - the version numbers above are all wrong. Goodness knows what I was thinking.

The Universe xrdp-0.9.5-2 is based on xorgxrdp-0.2.5. The GNOME 3 problems are fixed with xorgxrdp 0.2.6.
