This only started to happen after an upgrade to 12.04 from 11.10

I have a similar problem with the document http://archive.org/download/philosinductsci01wewrich/philosinductsci01wewrich.pdf . Xpdf crashes shortly after it opens the file and shows the first page. This is reproduceable always. I was able to open the document with evince, though evince is extremely slow in opening it. I also tested this with FoxitReader 5.1.4.0104 and Windows XP and here everything works fine.

Any progress with fixing this bug? How can I help?
xpdf from current 12.04.1 crashes on every PDF document on my machine, rendering the program completely unusable.
This is also a system upgraded from version 10.04.

By the way, copying and running the binary "/usr/bin/xpdf.bin" from a Ubuntu 10.04 system works well.
"evince" also works, but I don't like to switch.
