Bug Description

running ubuntu 11.10 on a dell latitude e6410 laptop.

Connecting an external display or projector defaults to an extended desktop configuration. If I want to mirror the display for example when giving a slideshow, I cannot.

The short cut key is not responsive.

The 'mirror displays' option in the displays setting dialog is greyed out.

Telescope_Nerd, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg <replace-with-bug-number>

Thank you for your understanding.

This is a problem for me as well. Why is the 'mirror displays' option greyed out?

I was able to clone the display using this command as a workaround:

xrandr --output VGA-0 --same-as LVDS-0
