Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

If one changes the monitor or video card, or adds an external monitor to a laptop one needs to run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" in a terminal/console to do the needed changes in the X configuration. For most users this is difficult to find. There should be a tool in the Control Center for changing the X configuration.

Note that one cannot rely always on fully automatic configuration, especially for external monitors for laptops (the automatic configuration usually configures the internal screen then) or for monitors without auto-detection support.

We can use displayconfig-gtk for X server (video card driver, monitor, etc) configuration !
Look at this specification - https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/displayconfig-gtk
Ubuntu 7.04 already has displayconfig-gtk package in universe :)
