Binary package hint: xserver-xorg
I one changes the monito or video card, or adds an external monitor to a laptop one needs to run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" in a terminal/console to do the needed changes in the X configuration. For most users this is difficult to find. There should be a tool in the Control Center for changing the X configuration.
Note that one cannot rely always on fully automatic configuration, especially for external monitors for laptops (the automatic configuration usually configures the internal screen then) or for monitors without auto-detection support. |
