Thanks for your bug report. Are you using stock compiz from Feisty and not gandalfns or beryl? Can you also attach a screenshot of it happening?

This is with stock compiz, and at the moment I can't reproduce it.

I think it happens after a resume, and that launching an app or doing things and then hitting alt-f2 make it less likely to happen. Attached is a screen shot that shows the text and widgets missing, just a blank window. That happens only some of the time; often the dialog looks normal, but no text appears when I type.

I've noticed that the behavior I noticed may be just one form of a more general problem. On this computer, running Feisty with Compiz, dialogs and menus show up blank. Example dialogs include "add printer" and openoffice "save as". In openoffice there are seemingly similar problems - highlighting on mouseover doesn't work in the menus, and when I first click on a menu often only a few of the entries show; I have to click again to get the whole menu. This computer has integrated intel graphics. On another computer with the same software using an nvidia card I don't have any of these problems.

I looked for a more general bug report that this might duplicate but couldn't find one. Should I write these things up as a new bug report?

Similar problem, If I turn on Desktop-Effects in Feisty then open a terminal I get the screen come up but no text.
If the terminal was already open then text displays as normal.
Also trying to switch tabs in Firefox with Desktop Effects on doesn't change the display on screen.
I am on a HP Pavilion zd8010us laptop with an ATI x600 video card, 1Gb Mem and 3GHz Intel Hyperthreading Processor.

I'll be able to get a screenshot of my friend's computer tomorrow, of the "add printer" dialog at least, which still shows up blank. Apparently the problem with openoffice menus has gone away, though I don't know about the save as dialog. And this has nothing to do with suspend, it happens on a fresh boot.

I've got the same problem - I haven't installed anything other than what came default with Herd 5. I'm also using an ATI card (9600 pro).

I am also experiencing this bug, very frequently in 16bit color depth as well as 32bit color depth but not as often.
However, adding XAANoOffScreenPixmaps to my xorg.conf solves the problem.

Reassigning to xorg as it's an XAA/configuration problem, not a compiz problem.
