I'm using the driver from the additional drivers ... I tried compiling the one from ati.com but it fails and says implicit declaration of something ...

also if I run glxgears it shows the gears moving only every few seconds and they just jump, no smooth rotation.

I disabled vsync in the opengl options in ccsm which helped a bit - screen is less laggy, but still laggy. the glxgears still dont move either.

I have installed kubuntu-desktop and windows move smoothly there, also glxgears works. I would still like to use gnome though.

maybe it's caused by compiz/unity? but i had the same problems in ubuntu maverick so it might be compiz ... ?

might be unity or compiz ... not xorg as everything works with kubuntu-desktop.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → unity (Ubuntu)

Yes it helps, disabling V-Blank but, still everything is laggy. The windows are jumping a bit when I move them. It's not working smoothly even with V-Blank disabled.
