Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

ubuntu/kubuntu does a poor job of recognizing graphics cards and monitors. (Installed with "expert" option on boot line). My system has:
Radeon 9600 256MB
Samsung 213T LCD Panel (1600x1200)

At boot time I selected 1280x1024x32 as the display since there is no option for 1600x1200, however, the installer is using 800x600.

A couple hours ago I installed ubuntu on a different partition and after install the display was set for 1024x768. There appear to be no easy tools to use to correct this issue (SuSE has admin tools that make it easy to change graphics card and monitor details)

The xserver-xorg maintainer scripts are responsible for detecting screen resolution. Reassigning.

I have System -> Preferences -> Screen Resolution here ...
