Bug Description

I forgot to create this bug when installing Ubuntu 6.10 but I've installed Xubuntu 6.10 and I have the same problem.
Xorg use the vesa driver for my ATI 9600 card.

Unless the xorg.conf file was generated by Xorg -configure, this is an Ubuntu specific bug. Feel free to reopen if the former is indeed the case.

can you try running "Xorg -configure" and attach the configuration file it produces.

Using Xorg -configure, the xorg.conf generated is recognizing the video card, the monitor (with the good horizontal and vertical refresh rate), and no more wacom devices (see bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bug/69113).

that's not a duplicate, different video card.

I tried with the ubuntu-7.04-beta-desktop-iso386 cd and it doesn't work.
Vesa driver.

You could attach /var/log/casper.log from the livecd session, that should show what went wrong.
