Viewsonic VA1912w Series Monitor not correctly installed

Bug Description

Fresh installs of Ubuntu 6.06.1 and Edgy 6.10 fail to correctly set-up the ViewSonic VA1912w screen.

The display should be set up as 1440x900 (@ 60 Mhz) with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Same here with Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 amd64. It doesn't work properly. The display is set on 1280x1024 (76Hz). I can not choose an 16:9 resolution !

Yep, same here.. Nvidia graphics card, (GeForce 6x series) and VA1912W. Stuck on 1024x768. Don't want to go mucking anything up but this is what I believe to be the relevant sections of my XConfig file - I have enabled the 'restricted' NVidia driver (restricted, it's only restrictive to be stuck with the CPU handling all graphics and not being able to use Linux as a *desktop*).
