Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

In Lucid, with visual effects set to normal, video playback using xv blacks out sometimes. The following video is a demonstration.

Changing to x11 (no xv) video output "fixes" the problem, but uses much more CPU.

This has been true in previous versions of Ubuntu since 8.04 on this hardware. I'm just now reporting it.

After applying the update from the brian-rogers ppa, https://launchpad.net/~brian-rogers/+archive/graphics-fixes I haven't experienced this issue or a GPU freeze, which I experienced with other configurations.
