I found a Linux HID patch for Mighty Mouse at http://fob.po8.org/system/files/mightymouse.patch.txt

How about apply this patch to kernel image?

The mouse is still not fixed... infact... it has regressed and I can't use button 8, the sqeeze button, it is now assigned to button 2. That is not fun.

I was able to get horizontal scrolling working by modifying my xorg.conf in Ubuntu Feisty - see <http://www.marteydodoo.com/2007/06/08/wireless-mighty-mouse-on-ubuntu-linux/>. Does something similar work for anyone here?

Thanks for the information. I hadn't look for sometime if anyone had done it. Looks like the patch was excepted into the kernel, but ubuntu doesn't recognise it at install. Can we have this information added so that it automatically works in ubuntu?
Can we add this to either a bug or wishlist?
Thanks for your help Martey.

This solves the issue for Apple Mighty Mouse with USB cable:

Radek, Thanks for the work arround. Do we need a program to help configure your mouse buttons and model in ubuntu? If there is big enough demand I can try to throw one together. Otherwise I will wait and do it this summer. :)

encompass, once the xorg.conf and Firefox is configured properly, there is not needed anything else. For button selection in desktop configurations I posted some pictures here: http://translatecz.svarz.cz/2007/11/en-ubuntu-and-apple-mighty-mouse.html

Just be careful, that the wireless bluetooth Mouse needs to have slightly different settings of xorg.conf (based on the detection using less /proc/bus/input/devices) as is mentioned here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2758862&postcount=6

encompass, if the xorg.conf and Firefox adjustments could have been done by some "automatix" like software (apple mighty mouse package?) it would save some people a lot of headaches.

On the other hand I still wonder that there is no "mouse testing pane" in the Ubuntu mouse settings. I mean graphically shown selected Mouse model with Buttons test detection.

I have ad this mouse working by configuring th xorg for some time. I was just hoping we could have this mouse, along with many others, more correctly configured. This would fill a very large and easy to fix gap in the linux hardware world.
I have been thinking for some time how to properly make a program that would let you select a mouse and it would give you a default configurationfor your mouse with the option to set the buttons to what you like. I would also have a database of user submitted pictures of the mice that would help people recognize the mouse. And obviousely with a probe to see what mouse they have and do most of the configuring itself.
And the issues with firefox are not the only place. Any built in browser type of software, like miro or my pystart program react to this. These issues are things that should be address on their programs.

encompass, would you like to open the new ticket for such program? I think it is more general, than just the Apple Mighty Mouse xorg bug. I would be glad to add some thoughts then.

So far in Hardy it's not working. Is there something I need to look for? I trying finding any mention of it in the repo's and couldn't find it.

@encompass, input-hotplug failed to mature sufficiently to be included for Hardy; not really any chance of it. So maybe Intrepid.
