Nouveau driver not compatible with GeForce G102M

Binary package hint: xorg

I own an ASUS K50IN Notebook. As reported on the forums the lucid won't run out of the box.(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9096639) and the hack to get it running is quite ugly:

I booted the live cd and went to console mode (Ctrl+Alt+F1):

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
sudo nvidia-xconfig

I then manually killed an xorg process I found running running:

ps ax | grep xorg

I started X and could install Lucid:

sudo modprobe nvidia-current
startx

After installation I had to do that again on the new installation. So now I have it running with Nvidia proprietary drivers.
