Bug Description
The system does not even boot on my iMac G5 1.8 GHz (first iMac version). I am talking about Ubuntu 6.06 for PowerPC.
It hangs with a plain color screen where I can see the pointer but it is not able to move it. I mean, the X server hangs.

I've just recently downloaded 6.06ppc.
I am experiencing the same failure.
I've attempted "live" boot and "live-powerpc64" boots. During boot I have observed a failure of pbbuttonsd. My machine is also a G5 1.8 Ghz (PPC G5 (3.0)) w 2G memory. At times during boot the fan revs up to high speed, at what point in the boot process it speeds up is not consistent. The crash occurs shortly after starting "initialize peripherials" of the kde startup.
