Bug Description

The system does not even boot on my iMac G5 1.8 GHz (first iMac version). I am talking about Ubuntu 6.06 for PowerPC.
It hangs with a plain color screen where I can see the pointer but it is not able to move it. I mean, the X server hangs.

I've just recently downloaded 6.06ppc.
I am experiencing the same failure.
I've attempted "live" boot and "live-powerpc64" boots. During boot I have observed a failure of pbbuttonsd. My machine is also a G5 1.8 Ghz (PPC G5 (3.0)) w 2G memory. At times during boot the fan revs up to high speed, at what point in the boot process it speeds up is not consistent. The crash occurs shortly after starting "initialize peripherials" of the kde startup.

I can confirm this, getting a brown screen, can't move cursor. I can switch into text mode, but can't open a shell. At some point, the system hangs completely.
Dapper 6.06 doesn't even install on an iMac G5. There are a few threads on the forum with workarounds for earlier flight versions, but none of these work for the current Dapper PPC version. Supposedly has to do with a sound driver.

I'm pretty desperate at this point, but I don't want to install anything but Dapper on my iMac. Let me know if I can contribute in any way to get this one fixed.

I sent this bug. I don't know why it has not been confirmed or asigned. The bug is still happening in ubuntu 6.06.1. I have seen these two other bugs... It could ve the same problem...
