I did clean install of Karmic amd64, then applied the available updates, now its running in the low graphics mode

the attached xorg.conf above is brought from a running Hardy installation, the automatically generated on by X -configure is attached here

Your bug report has been marked as a duplicate of a bug specific to Kubuntu systems that have the gdm package installed. Are you running Kubuntu, or Ubuntu? Do you still see this issue after upgrading to the latest version of the gdm package?
