Bug Description

Installed Dapper 6.04 Flight-5 on a Sony PCG-GRX670 laptop (1600x1200 display, ATI Mobility Radeon 7500).
Upon boot display is set to 640x480.
System->Preferences->Screen Resolution shows:
  Resolution: 640x480
  Refresh rate: -21213 Hz

Neither of the above values can be changed.

I have found the cause of this as it also happens with distro using this same Xorg.

It appears that if a second monitor is plugged in when the system boots the Radeon driver gets all messed up and goes into VGA mode.

If I unplug the second monitor and restart X then I get the resolution that I'd expect for this card/monitor.

Please confirm if this is a fixed issue or if you still consider it still as a bug. If the latter, please attach the requested files. thanks.

The bug still exists. IFF an external monitor is attached at the time X starts then it goes into 640x480 mode. If the monitor is detached then it correctly goes into 1600x1200 mode.

Note that SuSE 10.1 beta has this same problem, they also use the new Xorg. Under SuSE 10.1 using the alternate radeon10b solves the problem.

For Sony VAIO VGN-FS115MR bad refresh rate. Only 60 instead of max 85. I tryed tweeks like "1280*800_70", but it doesn't work. Driver "nv".

Multiple issues here:

- when there is a second monitor connected, X doesn't always return the requested info and the autoconfiguration fails.

- there is no radeon10b driver upstream and thanks suse for contributing the code back.
