Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

In ubuntu server intrepid after installing "xserver-xorg" and "xinit" X doesn't work.
Error message:
(EE) config/hal: couldn't initialise context: (null) ((null))

Workaround:
sudo apt-get install hal

Hi micmord,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` too.

xserver-xorg depends on hal in jaunty.
