Bug Description

X.Org X Server 1.4.99.906 (1.5.0 RC 6)

Current testing Ubuntu Intrepid with all updates done. I can start a Xserver
with one nVidia card installed, but as soon as I try to run two cards with
"Option SLI AUTO" or any other option the xserver fails & I drop to terminal.
I have also contacted nVidia about this & have several nVidia bugreports.

I have tried the "bulletproof X" conf and several different custom xorg.conf
files, all without a SLI start.

I can go back to my 8.04 (Hardy) install & just add the Option to my normal
xorg.conf & have a normal X start.

Included are my nVidia bugreports--please contact me if you need anything else.

THANK YOU AGAIN!!
What was the problem area? Backingstore or AddARGBGLXVisuals? Or?

SLI is up--do you think that SFR would be better than AFR?

CHEERS!!!!

I wouldn't know which of the two sli modes would be better (since I have never tried SLI).

I think that adding the BusID to the Device section made it clear to the xserver which card had to be considered as the first device.

Just a note--testing with both modes--SFR is MUCH better that AFR--test case: Flury screensaver--with AFR there is a very note-able change between the two GPUs--in SFR, you see a horizontal line generate & dissolve for the first couple of seconds--then it has "seemed" to balance the load between the two GPUs. I must admit that everything seems more "fluid" using two GPUs--can't believe that there was such a difference.
