Bug Description

Hoary on HP NC4200.

Pluging in a monitor after bootup does not work correctly. A display is made but
it is all messed up, there are noise in the display and the picture does not
fill the display correctly its too large.

Booting up with the monitor pluged in works correctly though.

I have a similar problem with Dapper Flight 4 on Compaq nc8230.
The external monitor works somehow if connected before boot, but not with proper settings. Connected after boot, it doesn't seem to react at all (I don't get "No signal", but the screen stays black).
