random freezes and xorg dies sending me back to login screen

Bug Description
branch new dell xps 2020
machine randomly freezes and xorg dies on me
nothing in /var/crash
but everything opened, not saved, is lost. i am sent back to login screen.
machine has latest bios (1.0.7)
is up to date regarding its ubuntu 18.04
i am seeing this in my kern.log which makes me suspect something is wrong with the Intel Iris driver :

I hope this is complete.
Sometimes it works fine for an hour or so
Other times I get several freezes in 15 minutes
