Bug Description

When using mpv to play a video fullscreen, when I try to resume the window from fullscreen, the screen freezes. Same thing happens when I use cheese. Nothing I can do except a hard poweroff.

I've manually upgraded my kernel with M-bab's build from 'https://github.com/M-Bab/linux-kernel-amdgpu-binaries'.

Ven, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

Given you are using an unsupported kernel, non-default kernel parameters, etc. if possible, it is best to get the computer in a stable state without WORKAROUNDs/unsupported software, and then reassess this issue.

Hence, to see if this is already resolved in Ubuntu, could you please test http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results?

Hello Christopher, thanks for your replying. Actually I am using it after failing with ubuntu 17.10. I have to use non-default kernel parameters, or my laptop will not boot at not. the screen will freeze with the "PCIe bus error" message. With these parameters, the laptop may be successful to boot. But still, sometime fails.Once it boot successful, the mpv is OK, the problem is gone. BTW,I am using the official kernel 4.15 now. What can I do further.

Ven, while booted into Ubuntu 18.04, could you please run the following command once from a terminal by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information:

Ven, given you updated to 18.04, stopping using unsupported PPAs/software, and the screen freezing after using mpv/cheese doesn't occur anymore, this issue appears resolved. Hence, I'll close this report.

However, if you seek a resolution to the computer not booting unless using non-default kernel parameters, feel free to file a new report via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.
