This seems like the same kind of problem I have been having for a while. This is kind of the same problem I was having when my vista program died.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

Due to the time that has elapsed since your initial bug report I'm changing the status to 'Incomplete'.

If this issue is still present in a currently supported release of Ubuntu then please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in and change the bug status to 'New'.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → ubuntu
Changed in ubuntu:
status: New → Incomplete

I have upgraded to 20.04.3 from Bionic Beaver. I kind of screwed up the
install. I forgot something about my computer. I installed an extra hard
drive inside of the case. I unplugged my external drives but forgot about
the extra one inside. If I had remembered I would have unpluged it it to.
Thank you for responding. Dan Purdy.

the delay in replying.

Marking this as 'Invalid' as the originally reported problem
is no longer be confirmed but may well have been fixed in
the intermediate releases between 16.04.x and 20.04.x.
