Missing 2560x1440 resolution on a Dell XPS 2720 all-in-one

The problem appeared after a distro upgrade from Ubuntu 16.10 to Ubuntu 17.04 (kernel 4.10.0-19-generic).
The issue doesn't exist when booting with the previous kernel (4.8.0-46-generic).

Ubuntu 17.04 (zesty) reached end-of-life on January 13, 2018.

The bug is still present in all subsequent versions of Ubuntu (17.10, 18.04 and 18.10).
