the difference between 1.38 and 1.5 dpi in the displays settings is huge

1.38 is far too small, 1.5 is far too big.

I used to use 1.62 on ubuntu 16.10 and that was fine.

Ubuntu 17.04 (zesty) reached end-of-life on January 13, 2018.
