german keyboard layout reverts to american one on reboot

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm using latest hardy and after setting my keyboard layout to german, it works for one session, after reboot its back to the american one, even though the layout part of the keyboard settings only shows "german".

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please provide a detailed test case for your bug report in your original description? It should include the exact actions that you take to set your keyboard layout to German so that we can try and reproduce the bug. Thanks in advance.

I think this is due to not using a xorg.conf file. When not using it it reverts back to default i suppose.
