Bug Description

When I boot my Dell Inspiron 1100, if I happen to close the lid after Grub the screen will be almost blank upon boot. Boot is succesful as spash screen sounds are heard, and I can log in, and reboot through the terminal.

The screen is almost blank, but shadows of windows can just be seen. Rebooting doesn't always fix the problem and hard boot can be required.

I have 2.4 GHz P4, Intel 82801 graphics card

From the log I see you're using the -i810 driver which is no longer supported.
If you're able to reproduce the issue on jaunty using the -intel driver, feel free to reopen.

You may also find it useful to look at the quirks page, which includes discussion about troubleshooting lid-close errors.
